Bob Gerber is a Consultant Cardiologist currently working in Hawke’s Bay DHB. He graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School which is part of King’s College London in 2000. He holds dual accreditation in Cardiology and General Internal.
Bob is an expert in the field of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) guided stent implantation and is also trained in implanting pacemakers and implantable cardio-defibrillators (ICDs) as well as coronary stents. He has maintained his credentialing within New Zealand by performing these procedures on a regular basis. He has expertise in hypertension and heart failure as well as heart rhythm disturbances and dyslipidaemia.

Kaweka Hospital is the first surgical facility in Hawke’s Bay to invest in the latest laser technology offering an unparalleled level of precision for surgery and a faster recovery for our patients. The TruBlue laser will be used by our ENT team for specific procedures such as treating and removal of leukoplakia, papillomas and polyps, Reincke’s oedema and capillary Ectasia and conditions in the middle ear. It is used to coagulate and vaporize for bloodless surgery. We are also the first in Hawke’s Bay to invest in the latest image guidance system, also known as Stealth Navigation, allowing our surgeons to perform surgery of the sinuses and ear more accurately, safely and reducing the risk of revision surgery required.

Training: Chris holds bachelor’s degrees in visual arts, chemistry and biology. He obtained his doctor of medicine degree (MD) from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and completed otolaryngology residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine.
During residency he frequently attended courses led by global experts in endoscopic sinus surgery, rhinoplasty, facial plastic surgery, facial trauma & reconstruction, skull base surgery, and allergy. After residency, he completed the Delaware Otologic Surgery & Medicine fellowship where he learned advanced otology, neurotology and stereotactic radiosurgery from Michael Teixido as well as the Institute for Cochlear Implant Training where he completed their 14-week advanced surgeons’ cochlear implant program. Due to the impact allergy has on many ear, nose and throat disorders, Chris completed an additional fellowship with the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy and hopes to bring allergy immunotherapy to the Hawke’s Bay region.
He is a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery. A Bit of Training History: After completing basic medical training at Otago Medical School, Dunedin, Murray’s first clinical years were spent at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton. Six months as a junior in the Department of Anaesthesia introduced him to the specialty. His initial enthusiasm was confirmed by two years in the UK, both working in anaesthesia and travelling. Murray returned to New Zealand to commence specialty anaesthesia training in 1990 and gained his FANZCA in 1995.
In 1996 he was appointed as a Specialist Anaesthetist in Hawke’s Bay. Murray initially worked in ICU, Public Anaesthesia and Private Practice for five years, before stopping ICU work to concentrate on anaesthesia. He was Head of Department of Anaesthesia from 2010 until 2016.

Originally from Auckland, Bevan worked in the Hawke’s Bay Hospital twice during junior doctor rotations. He returned permanently in 2017 to take up a post as a Consultant General Surgeon, establishing a practice in both the public and private sector and he is married to a local GP.

Jevon returns to the Hawkes Bay as a Specialist General and Colorectal Surgeon having spent a year here for surgical training. Originally from the UK he completed his undergraduate training through the University of London (2005) and subsequently moved to New Zealand in 2007. He undertook his Surgical training in New Zealand, completing this in 2019 to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Australasian Surgeons (FRACS). Following this Jevon was accepted into sub-specialist colorectal and proctology training through the Colorectal Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) and was based in Australia for 2 years before taking up a consultant post in the Hawke’s Bay in 2022.
During his training, Jevon also embarked on a PhD in perioperative care through The University of Auckland. This was completed in 2018 and for which he received the prestigious colorectal Mark Killingback prize in 2014 from the Royal College of Australasian Surgeons (RACS). Kirsten is a consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist and has obtained both her Medical degree and a Post-graduate Diploma in Obstetrics and Medical Gynaecology from the University of Otago. Subsequent to these accomplishments she embarked upon her Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist training and completed this in 2014 upon being awarded her Fellowship (FRANZCOG).

Dr Liz Insull is a New Zealand and UK trained Oculoplastic and Ophthalmic surgeon based in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. Liz is the only member of the Australian, New Zealand Society of Ophthalmic Plastic Surgeons (ANZSOPS) in Hawke’s Bay.

Originally from Hamilton, Nelson completed medical school through the university of Otago in 2008. Nelson worked in Hawke’s Bay as the urology registrar in 2014 and 2015. He also worked at Palmerston North and Auckland prior to completing his training at the Royal North Shore hospital in Sydney Australia in 2019. Following this he returned to Hawke’s Bay as a consultant surgeon with a special interest in Uro-oncology and Uro-reconstruction.
