Steven Sawyers is a rheumatologist from the Hawkes Bay, growing up and doing his schooling in Hastings. He attended Auckland University before working in Hastings and Christchurch Hospitals, completing his FRACP in Cairns, Australia.

Steven took up a public rheumatology post back in the Hawkes Bay in 2012. His rheumatological special interests include inflammatory arthritis including RA, crystal arthritis, point of care ultrasound and PMR/GCA. He currently sits on the executive committees of the New Zealand Rheumatology Association and the Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology.

He enjoys getting on the bike, both on the tarmac and the dirt.

Bob Gerber is a Consultant Cardiologist currently working in Hawke’s Bay DHB. He graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School which is part of King’s College London in 2000. He holds dual accreditation in Cardiology and General Internal.

Bob is an expert in the field of intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) guided stent implantation and is also trained in implanting pacemakers and implantable cardio-defibrillators (ICDs) as well as coronary stents. He has maintained his credentialing within New Zealand by performing these procedures on a regular basis. He has expertise in hypertension and heart failure as well as heart rhythm disturbances and dyslipidaemia.

He enjoys cycling, trail-running and time with the family who are living in Hawke’s bay.

Eve undertook her medical training at the University of Auckland. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians with dual training in General Paediatrics and Community Child Health.
Eve completed a fellowship in Developmental Paediatrics in Brisbane in 2018.
Eve enjoys spending time with her two children, reading, running and yoga.
